I first read this book as a dreamy teenage girl, who being filled with romance and longings, was a prime candidate for such a passionate story of a woman in search of fulfullment and identity. That was over 20 years ago, and this lovely story still brings home to me that same inspirational feeling of departing on some grand adventure! Delta Blood is the first in Barbara Ferry Johnson's trilogy centering on the beautiful Leah. The heroine displays the utterly feminine charms of stubborn hope and fragile strength in a man's world. This book is still a cherished favorite today and has the unmistakable appeal of a true romantic classic!

This book really covered everything from your firarms to your team members. Also it was so simple to follow what the text said. It gave me full satisfaction

This is a must own. The photographs are beautiful but what makes this book so powerful is that the people of the Delta are living in the '90's just as they did in the 'teens. For all of the positive changes that have happen since the civil rights movement it obvious that these people have been left behind. The photos will bring tears to your eyes. I would suggest to those people who churches may not be doing that 'Trip to the Holy Land with Pastor so and so' Think about organizing with Habitat for Humanity and doing some building in the Delta.

This literary masterpiece entitled, "Down in the Delta," was simply superb -- it was well-written, vividly descriptive portraying life in the Delta or deep southern regions of our great nation and one woman's struggle for success and respect in a life filled with chaos.

The story begins with a dysfunctional family in the cold, mean streets of Chicago with a mother acting in the capacity of the primary source of income. However, the woman's own mother suggests that her daughter bring herself and her children (one boy and one girl) to her uncle's estate in the state of Mississippi -- better known as "The Delta."

This book will touch your soul, warm your heart and compel you to inspire a young person in your life to achieve more in life. Enjoy this literary masterpiece! Au Revoir!

This book is a wonderful experience from the reader's point of view. It goes in depth about life at Parchman Penitentiary from the guards and inmates viewpoint. I highly recommend this book if you are interested in criminology, prisons, and law.

The dramatic, smart-as-a-tack, compassionate Vietnam War memoir by the man who would, years later, be kidnapped by Colombian guerrillas and write LONG MARCH TO FREEDOM, his own account of his highly publicized captivity and release. Get both books. Hargrove is a warrior who cares about the starving millions, who has risked his life for them and who writes memoirs as gripping as good novels.

I began my acquaintance with Eudora Welty's works in college with One Writer's Beginnings and fell in love with the lyrics of her writing. I moved on to her short stories where I believe Ms. Welty surely shines brightest, but her novels are almost as wonderful. Very few people have the depth of insight into the mind and motivations of southerners that Eudora Welty has. She is right up there with William Faulkner. She has the gift of seeing and conveying the universal experiences of her decidedly regional cast of characters.

Since this is a collection of all of Ms. Welty's novels it is difficult to give a concise review. Suffice it to say that for reading pleasure you will not spend better money. The Optimist's Daughter won the Pulitzer Prize, but Losing Battles may be even better (the novel centers on all of the family stories told at a huge family reunion--great framing device for so many wonderful tales). The Robber Bridegroom is a southern fairy tale.

Eudora Welty is a giant of literature. This is a great Library of America collection. Buy it!

An excellent collection of essays that examines the reasons for and dynamics of executive teams. Explores the organization, chemistry and purposes of the team. Some topics include: the jobs of the CEO and COO; governance, importance of trust, conflict resolution, feedback, developing strategy, and leading strategic change teams. The essays in this work make many important observations. Of added value are effective summary tables.

I am surprised no one else has written a review of this book. It is an excellent book, used in many school districts as multicultural, narrative literature. THis book can be teamed with Sadako and/or the Magic Crane to show examples of the belief that cranes bring good luck. It can even be tied in with an origami lesson on folding paper cranes.
